Print By Mail Configuration Prerequisites

To use Print By Mail, at least one Mobile Internet Extender (MIE) server must be configured and ready for use. The MIE server connects to a Delegation Server and also links with mobile devices. Refer to the SLNX Installation Guide for details about the MIE server.

  1. STMP Server configuration must be configured in System ⟶ Server Settings ⟶ Networking to enable email notifications of document acceptance or errors.

  2. Change the “SLNX Mobile (Internal)” printer instance from the default (Microsoft Generic) drive to Ricoh Universal Driver PCL or PS. This allows for correct color/black & white selection as well as simplex/duplex.

  3. IMAP, POP3 or Exchange EWS protocol is required for receiving email. An IMAP, POP3 or Exchange EWS admin account name and password will be used to connect to the mail server. Optionally, you can also enable OAuth2 authentication when using Exchange EWS.

Follow the instructions in Mail Servers to configure one or more mail servers that you can then choose from in the Print by Mail configuration screens.

Supported Microsoft Exchange Servers include Exchange Server 2013, Exchange Server 2016, Exchange Server 2019 and Exchange Online (Office 365).

  4. Create a unique email address that can be used to process incoming print requests. Users will send a message containing an attachment to be printed to this email address. For example, ‘emailprint@company.com’ or similar.

The Print By Mail feature connects to the same Delegation Server as mobile printing. If the main Delegation Server is not reachable, the email submission is automatically rerouted to the secondary Delegation Server (if defined).
