Firmware Template

Use the firmware template to update the firmware of the devices. You can use a firmware template to update firmware for Ricoh and Brother devices only.

To use the firmware template, the access accounts of SNMP, Device Administrator, and SDK/J are required. The template may not be executed properly when the access accounts are not configured.

  1. Click [Configuration] → [Configuration Templates] → [Firmware].

  2. Click [Add].

  3. Enter the [Template Name] and [Description].

The security group items are displayed when the group restriction function is enabled in the security settings, and you can restrict the device group to be specified for the template target.

For the security group context, refer to Configure Group Restrictions.

  1. Specify the software selection method.

    • Download the firmware from the Software Server

      The firmware can be updated to the latest version supported by the device.

      The device model is not specified, and the firmware will not be downloaded at the time of template creation. Instead, the device model is obtained from the Ricoh Software Server or the Brother Software Server and the firmware is downloaded whenever the template is applied to a specific device. As a result, each different model may receive different firmware from the Software Server. In this case, the firmware license agreement will be a general binding agreement. In addition, partial firmware upgrades are not possible using this method; use local firmware package upgrades instead.

    • Use File in Repository

      Select the firmware from the repository to be used for updating selected devices. This option is not supported for Brother models.

    • Upload New File to Repository

      This method is used only to update custom-made firmware by RICOH and is supported for vendor-specific uploads such as Brother. A firmware package for Brother must have the file extension .djf. Once you upload the file, you can then select it from the Firmware Package section of the screen.

      For information about Package_05 firmware with new security measures, speak to your Ricoh representative.

  1. Click [OK].

To execute this template, add the template to a task first and select target devices. For details, refer to Create a Configuration Task.

As a precaution, you may chose to perform a Check task for this template before applying the firmware to the selected devices. The Check will determine if the firmware file specified in the template is supported by each target device.
